reviews!

Before I get into the reviews, I just wanted to thank everyone who picked up this book. Beyond what I had to do with it, GuriHiru made some amazing art, Colleen Coover did an awesome back-up, and generally, I was honored to be part of this project. So yeah, thanks for that, everyone, and I’ll see you back on the stands in September!

- Axiom’s Edge loved the issue, and said, “This was just a great, fun series written with just the right touch of humor and action by Alex Zalben with perfect artwork for this story by Gurihuru. If you haven’t read this series I highly recommend it in trade.”

- Comixtreme gave the comic 4.5 out of 5 stylized letters I’s (at least I think that’s their rating system), and called it, “…the best of the all-ages Power Pack series to date!”

- Gurihiru has a breakdown of their cover process for the entire series – as well as a look at what went into making issue four.

- Robot 6 on CBR sez, “Thor and the Warriors Four (the four-issue miniseries) came to a satisfying happy ending for kids and adults alike. Like a good sitcom, I enjoy the snippets of dialogue that Alex Zalben works in–case in point when Thor, Frog of Thunder; and Beta Ray Bill acknowledge each other as they head into battle (Frog: “Thorse”‘ Bill” “Throg”).”

- Girls Read Comics Too loved the last issue, saying, “I think that’s what my favorite thing about this series has been and why it’s been a success (aside from the sheer adorableness steeped in every panel) — that it’s still very much grounded in human emotion and tragedy… I love it so much. I forsee dozens of happy re-reads in my future.”

- By Odin’s Beard gave the issue four out of five beards, and calls out one moment in particular, saying, “The appearance of Jormungand provides a great opportunity for Alex Power to prove himself, though, and what follows is a great moment, one of the best I’ve read like it.”

- Hero Sandwich gives the issue a thumbs up times a billion, and says, “This was the best comic I got last week. Absolutely HUGE props to writer Alex Zalben and artists Gurihiru for this one — I haven’t had this much fun reading a comic book in ages.”

- 1979 Semi-Finalist says “Buy It!” and also, “Wonderful adorable totally fun stuff. Gurihiru’s art is just phenomenal (as is Coover’s in her tale) and Zalben’s writing is funny and right on point. Adorable. If you have kids, totally get this, if you just want to have fun reading some fun comics, get it even if you don’t have kids.”

And that’s it for right now, other than some chatter about Beta Ray Bill’s haircut on 4Chan, which I’m not gonna link to because it’ll be gone by the time you click the link. Anyway, I’ll update this post as more reviews come in! As long as they’re good. Or fair. Or offer me free cake. I’ll post anything for cake.
