Totally incorrect Amazing Spider-Man theory: this new movie ISN’T a reboot, it’s actually the start of the movie version of the Clone Saga!

- They’ve said this isn’t a reboot, but it clearly doesn’t exactly take place in the continuity of the first three movies.

- The tagline is “The Untold Story Begins…” Wouldn’t it make sense that we wouldn’t know the parallel story of Ben Reilly, that took place almost the same time as Peter Parker’s story?

- Andrew Garfield wears a hoodie in the movie… JUST LIKE THE SCARLET SPIDER IN THE CLONE SAGA!

So I think it’s pretty clear what’s going on: in The Amazing Spider-Man, the Jackal has cloned Peter Parker, but created an imperfect clone (hence why Garfield looks nothing like Tobey Maguire). He’s placed him in a virtual reality simulation, to reproduce the experiences of Parker, though with some twists and differences to make Reilly (Garfield) more pliable. And the film will end with Garfield coming face to face with Maguire!

Yup, that’s definitely what’s going to happen. Nailed it!

FRINGE Gives Jasika Nicole a Star-Making Showcase With “Making Angels” [Recap] - Seriously, I’m a little flabbergasted that Jasika Nicole had ONE picture on the press site, with her in the background… For the episode about her. She needs more to do on the show.

David Wain Looks Back On Four Seasons Of ‘Wainy Days’ [Interview] - The interview was great, but leading up to it, I was in a phone conference room where David couldn’t hear me, then he called my phone but my wife picked up first. Then I was sitting in an echoey room with barely any cell reception, and 8% left on my battery. So that I got anything out of this is spectacular. Wainy Days is good, you should check it out.

It’s Easy To See Why ‘Daredevil By Mark Waid’ Is The Best Hardcover Around - I can’t say enough good things about this book. If you don’t pick it up, and complain about how “comics aren’t good anymore,” or “always written for the trade,” or any argument in the negative, really, you’re wrong. Pick it up.

Fun fact! I guess I didn’t actually have that many posts up this week. Wrote a bunch, but they’ll probably all go up next (this?) week, so whatevs, dudes. Hang ten. I did start teaching sketch comedy writing at Pace University Thursday, though, and will be doing that all semester, so what have YOU done with your life. Yeah. That’s right.

The 10 Best Geek TV Scores - Ever - Despite not being very knowledgeable about the techniques of music (I stopped playing piano in High School, you guys), I still geek out about scores and soundtracks… So I was pretty happy to do this one.

First off, even though I’ve mentioned it a million times on Twitter and Facebook and never in person because I only communicate through the computer, the big news this week was that Comic Book Club is now an official part of The Nerdist Network!

We’ve been doing the show over five years now, and we’ve worked for various people, and developed the show many, many different ways; but working with Chris Hardwick and company is, seriously, the best fit we’ve ever had. They’re an awesome bunch of talented folks, with a fantastic array of podcasts in various nerdy subjects, and I can’t thank them enough for including us.

Anyway, enough about me, here’s some links to posts I wrote this week:

‘Fringe’ Goes “Back To Where You’ve Never Been” With An All-New Episode [Recap] - I’ve mentioned this before, but I don’t think any show inspires me to write way longer than I should for a recap than Fringe. This week, I spent about thirty-six paragraphs analyzing one tossed-off two-word phrase, so enjoy!

DC’s Newer 52 Is Hopefully Just The Beginning Of Even Bigger Changes [Op-Ed] - I was pretty sleepy when I wrote this, so I think it’s probably three different op-eds jammed together without any full exploration… But I do believe strongly about the “seasons” approach to comics publishing I mention here. I think it could work (despite feeling the opposite about TV, confusingly).

‘The Rook’ Is ‘Downton Abbey’ With Superpowers [Book Review] - It’s either fortuitous, or short-sighted of me that I always reference the last thing I’ve watched in something I’m reviewing. Anyway, good, fun, probably under the radar book you should pick up.

Walt Simonson and Brian Bendis Team For Upcoming ‘Avengers’ Arc - Hearing Walt Simonson’s voice come out of the phone made my brain melt a little. My questions boiled down to, “You like Thor. Thor good. You draw Thor?”

Person of Interest’s Michael Emerson and Jonathan Nolan Go To Breakfast + EXCLUSIVE POI Picture - Fun fact! This happened in October, I pretended it happened the other day when I wrote this. Either way, if you want to read a story of me being terrified, here you go.

‘Defenders #1’ Is Big, Crazy, and Bravura Work [Marvel Advance Review] - I was far too proud of how cleverly I constructed this review… There’s one cutesy bit I called out, one that’s (slightly) more subtle. If you’ve read the first issue, you’ll know what it is.

New Who Christmas Special Pics, Movies, and Bedtime Stories: What’s New With Doctor Who? - Beyond having fun writing these, it makes me super happy that not only is there enough Doctor Who news on a weekly basis for a round-up, but that I work for a place that allows me to write a weekly Doctor Who news round-up.

Brian Michael Bendis To Leave The Avengers…And Maybe Join The X-Men? [Op-Ed] - Well, I’m pretty convinced by my crackpot theory… Even though I know its probably wrong.

Kermit The Frog On The Future of The Muppets [Interview] - I think this goes under “life highlights,” though I’ll still hold out for interviewing a Muppet in person. That would make me faint.

6 Times The Avengers Previously Fought The X-Men - I did a bunch of research for this article… Enough that someone else posted this exact same list, said, “I used MTV Geek for inspiration,” and then proceeded to just straight up copy what I said. Point being, I managed to pretend I knew what I was talking about hard enough to be ripped off. Sweet. Side-note: this week, I saw someone post on Facebook that, “MTV Geek should stop trying to be Cracked, their writers are not funny.” Since I’m the only one who writes these lists, I’m again going to take the fact that someone got pissed enough to post on Facebook about my stuff that I’m doing something right.

10 Christmas Toys For Kids That Guys Buy For Themselves - Marni and I are seriously considering getting that Hot Wheels track.

Fringe Hits a Ratings Low, But a Dramatic High With “Wallflower” - Not the longest recap I’ve ever written, but man, it’s fun to analyze Fringe. I will be stupendously disappointed if the show doesn’t end on its own terms.
