Jon Benjamin (Archer, Bob’s Burgers) and Charles Soule (Image Comics’ 27) on the LAST episode of Comic Book Club Live!

That’s right: the last episode… On The Nerdist Channel. We’re still doing the live show, and the podcast for Nerdist, just no more video, because YOU DIDN’T WATCH IT ENOUGH. That’s an old showbiz tip: blame the audience.

Anyway, it was an unbelievable experience doing this show for the Nerdist Channel for eight weeks, they - and everybody at Broadway Video and Pianos - were nothing but a pleasure to work with; and we’re talking about further projects, so stay tuned. Thanks to everybody who did check out and support the show, and hope to see you at a live performance soon!

Comic Book Club with Axel Alonso and Al Madrigal!

The newest episode of the show is LIVE on the Nerdist Channel, and maybe it’s the best one yet? At least, it’s the one where two guys found out they were pretty much twins, and Axel told a crazy story about discovering comic books on a fishing boat. So good times.

The second episode of Comic Book Club on The Nerdist Channel is live! With guests from Comedy Central’s Ugly Americans, Devin Clark (Creator) and Kurt Metzger (voice of Randall). Also, if you prefer audio, you can check that out here.

If you do watch it, please like, tell your friends, tweet your facebooks and whatever else it is you kids do these days.

The first @NerdistChannel episode of Comic Book Club is ONLINE! With guests Judah Friedlander and Joe Kelly.

Moment of candor: for the five years we’ve been doing Comic Book Club, it’s felt blindingly obvious to me how to do this show for TV, but for some reason or another, it’s never happened. I honestly can’t thank the Nerdist team enough for finally, finally making this happen, and exactly how I dreamed it would be.

And also, thanks to Justin, Pete, all the Booth-Men we’ve had (especially James), everybody at The PIT for helping the show along for five years, every single guest we’ve had, and everybody who’s believed and helped the show along the way. This isn’t necessarily the end of the road, of course; but to get here feels like the peak so far.

Anyway, hope you guys like the show as much as I do, I couldn’t be happier right now.

My Favorite Posts (That I Wrote): 1/16/12-1/22/12

Fun fact! I guess I didn’t actually have that many posts up this week. Wrote a bunch, but they’ll probably all go up next (this?) week, so whatevs, dudes. Hang ten. I did start teaching sketch comedy writing at Pace University Thursday, though, and will be doing that all semester, so what have YOU done with your life. Yeah. That’s right.

The 10 Best Geek TV Scores - Ever - Despite not being very knowledgeable about the techniques of music (I stopped playing piano in High School, you guys), I still geek out about scores and soundtracks… So I was pretty happy to do this one.

‘The Nerdist’ Welcomes Alison Brie, But Thomas Dolby Steals The Show [Recap] - Thomas Dolby retweeted this, which pretty much made my week.

What’s New With Doctor Who: New Companion, Leverage Crossover, and TARDIS Purse - Westphall reference! If you know what that is, you get a cookie.

Comic Book Club with Greg Pak - I didn’t write this, but it is my podcast on The Nerdist, and hey, no one is reading this collection of links anyway.

My Favorite Posts (That I Wrote): 1/9/12-1/15/12

First off, even though I’ve mentioned it a million times on Twitter and Facebook and never in person because I only communicate through the computer, the big news this week was that Comic Book Club is now an official part of The Nerdist Network!

We’ve been doing the show over five years now, and we’ve worked for various people, and developed the show many, many different ways; but working with Chris Hardwick and company is, seriously, the best fit we’ve ever had. They’re an awesome bunch of talented folks, with a fantastic array of podcasts in various nerdy subjects, and I can’t thank them enough for including us.

Anyway, enough about me, here’s some links to posts I wrote this week:

‘Fringe’ Goes “Back To Where You’ve Never Been” With An All-New Episode [Recap] - I’ve mentioned this before, but I don’t think any show inspires me to write way longer than I should for a recap than Fringe. This week, I spent about thirty-six paragraphs analyzing one tossed-off two-word phrase, so enjoy!

DC’s Newer 52 Is Hopefully Just The Beginning Of Even Bigger Changes [Op-Ed] - I was pretty sleepy when I wrote this, so I think it’s probably three different op-eds jammed together without any full exploration… But I do believe strongly about the “seasons” approach to comics publishing I mention here. I think it could work (despite feeling the opposite about TV, confusingly).

‘The Rook’ Is ‘Downton Abbey’ With Superpowers [Book Review] - It’s either fortuitous, or short-sighted of me that I always reference the last thing I’ve watched in something I’m reviewing. Anyway, good, fun, probably under the radar book you should pick up.

Walt Simonson and Brian Bendis Team For Upcoming ‘Avengers’ Arc - Hearing Walt Simonson’s voice come out of the phone made my brain melt a little. My questions boiled down to, “You like Thor. Thor good. You draw Thor?”

Person of Interest’s Michael Emerson and Jonathan Nolan Go To Breakfast + EXCLUSIVE POI Picture - Fun fact! This happened in October, I pretended it happened the other day when I wrote this. Either way, if you want to read a story of me being terrified, here you go.
